Louie Nicholas Bueno, age 78, of Trinidad, Colorado, now rests in the hands of God. He passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2026.Born in Trinidad, Colorado on December 15, 1947, Louie was the son of Odelia (Hurtado) and Fidel Bueno, who precede him in death. He was the tenth child in a family of eleven children. He was a lifetime resident of Trinidad with the exception of the time he spent serving as a marine mechanic in the United States Navy where he was awarded a National Service Medal.Louie met the love of his life, Mary (Martinez) through a mutual friend in 1969. They married on June 4, 1970, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They are the parents of five wonderful children: Valerie (Bill) Van Slyke, Louie “Brian” Bueno, Fidel (Janet) Bueno, Tanya (Darryl) Orung, and Kayla (Christopher) Bueno. His memory will be treasured by his grandchildren: Sebastian (Candice), William “BJ” (Ashley), Brandy (Dawn), Sierra, Carlos (Sierra), Brian Junior, Alysia (Javier), Jamie, Joshua, Curtis, Gabrielle, Sean, Autumn, Nathan, Mia and great grandchildren: Dax, Tomas, and Hatty. He was proceeded in death by his siblings: Andrew, Cayetano, Anthony, Remaldo, Maria, Isabel, Aurora, Irene, Arlene, and Felix.Louie was a very faithful Christian who had a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. Louie offered words of wisdom and knowledge to those in need and was a great prayer warrior. He was proud of his faith and wanted everyone around him to have a relationship with God. He led many to Christ because of his powerful witness. He was often heard paraphrasing from John 15:16, “I didn’t choose God. God chose me.”Louie was a great father, husband, grandfather, and great grandfather and taught them all a powerful work ethic. He was self-employed for most of his life and mastered many trades. He loved restoring street rods.Louie was a teacher and also a jokester who was feisty, with a great sense of humor. His children always turned to him for wisdom and advice. He spent many hours each week lending a kind ear to others and chatting on the telephone and having daily breakfasts with his nephews.He will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and everyone else who had the pleasure of knowing him.Celebration of Life will be held at First Christian Church 200 South Walnut Street Trinidad, Colorado 81082 on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.Treasured memories and words of condolences are welcome at Comi Funeral Home.
