Roman Mario Montera
12.19.25

Roman Mario Montera, age 36, went home with our Lord on December 19,
2025. Although his life was short, the memories we treasure will live on in our
hearts forever. Roman was born on September 27, 1989, and this miracle child
filled our hearts with so much love. He truly completed our family. Roman
attended Trinidad schools, graduating from Trinidad High School in 2008, TSJC
in 2010 and then transferred to UCCS. Roman had many talents and God given
gifts which led him to a variety of jobs throughout his adult life. He first worked
in the neighborhood, cutting grass, shoveling snow and other odd jobs. Later in
his life he also worked the food business as a cook and finally as the director of a
processing lab. However, the most meaningful work he did was being a social
worker at the Trinidad Inn Nursing Home. He enjoyed providing services to our
elderly community, learning from their experiences, hearing their
stories, and being their person when they needed a friendly face and a
loving presence.
Roman
will be remembered for his witty, sometimes inappropriate sense of
humor. The love he had for his family was immense, and this love was
most poignant for his son Ambrose and his mother Karen. Roman was a
kind, gentle soul who took pride in helping others, and shedding light
on difficult situations. He loved his Italian culture, family time, and
tradition. There is now a great void in our family.
Roman
is survived by his son, Ambrose Roman, parents Paul and Karen Montera,
sisters, Regina (Ron) Montera, Kristina (Gary) Vezzani, nephews and
nieces, Dominic, Gianna, Briana, and Dario, aunt Carol Riggio and uncle
David Montera. Roman is also survived by his numerous, extended family
consisting of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his
grandparents Mike and Jean Riggio, Frank and Angelina Montera. Also,
close friends Michael Sandoval and Jerrod Sanchez.
Roman’s active pall bearers are, Dominic Bonsignore, Dario Vezzani, Sonny Colangelo, PJ Munoz, Gary Vezzani, Randy Begano.
Honorary pall bearers are Adam Chavez, Gilbert Martinez, Chad Gutierrez, Gabe Santistevan, and the THS Class of 2008.
Roman’s
services will be held at Most Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church on
January 5, 2026. Rosary at 12:30 with Mass at 1:00 pm.
In
lieu of flowers and gifts, the family is requesting that you have
