Linda Faye Walker, age 71, of Trinidad, Colorado passed away at Sangre De Cristo Hospice in Pueblo, Colorado on Oct. 5, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her husband of 32 years, David, was at her side. Linda was born Oct. 20, 1947 in El Paso, Texas to Eugene and Allie Love who preceded her in death. Linda and her family moved to Irving, Texas when she was a teenager. She attended Irving High School and North Central Texas College where she studied Business and Advertising. Linda married after high school and gave birth to a son and only child, Donald Walden Cluck, on Dec. 23, 1966. Her education resulted in her being named Advertising Manager of a local Texas newspaper, The Lewisville News. Additional duties at the paper included reporting on local sporting events, community events and photography. As a single mother, Linda was always interested in furthering her education and business career through college courses and business seminars. She worked her entire life in a variety of administrative positions and spent over 20 years in the medical profession as office manager for various doctors and medical clinics in Dallas and Houston, Texas. In 1987 she met and married her husband, David Walker, of Katy, Texas. They lived there until 2010 when David took a position at Trinidad State Junior College in the Gunsmithing Department. Linda became very involved in Trinidad society as a member or financial supporter of the Trinidad Historical Society, Life Member and Secretary of The Las Animas County Veterans Council, American Legion Auxiliary, Friends of Trinidad, and national groups such as Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, United Service Organizations, Inc., St. Joseph’s Indian School, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children and many more. She often attended County Commission meetings, City Council meetings and Chamber of Commerce meetings just to stay informed. Her hobbies included cooking, book collecting, antiquing, art work, state and local history and traveling. She traveled extensively through England, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and South America studying historical sites, customs, and art. She was a member of the Texas Association of Personnel Consultants and was awarded “Rookie of the Year” and “Top Ten Sales Associate” in 1993. The Texas Beef Council awarded her the title of “Beef Cooking Expert” in 2001. Linda is survived by her husband, David Walker, of Trinidad; her son, Donald Walden (Susan) Cluck; two sisters; a brother; three granddaughters; and a great grandson all of Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at Holloway Hall in Ft. Wootton on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
